Our trip to Rajasthan: Jaipur

We just returned from a 6-day trip to Rajasthan, a northwestern state bordering Pakistan, home to camels, maharajas, and desert dunes. It was an amazing trip, offering glimpses into a very different part of India. We visited three cities, Jaipur, Pushkar and Udaipur. I will post a few highlights from each and a slideshow of more pictures if you're interested.

Hannah and Matthew at attention in the City Palace, still inhabited by the Maharaja of Jaipur

Incredibly intricate design from the Moghul era

From atop the hills north of Jaipur, the Amber fort was remarkable

Mirrored ceilings would reflect the candles, colorful carpets and curtains hung in this summer palace in the fort

A real, live snake charmer... note cobra in basket. Will try to post video, too.

Just decided the Amber Fort merits a post of its own. Will add more photos!

I'd like to know more about why this is a very different side of India. What are some of the culture differences?
